How Titanium is Classified
Titanium is a non-ferrous metal, meaning it does not contain iron. Titanium is its own element, as you may remember from your high school chemistry class.
Beyond this, there is a complex classification system for titanium that breaks it down into several grades based on what it was used for, its purity, and other attributes.
Because of this classification system, different types of titanium might net you different amounts of money when you bring it in for scrapping. That being said, it’s always worth something—and it’s always a huge benefit to the environment and to the industries powered by titanium when you recycle.
When you bring titanium into the scrap yard, separate it from other metals—especially ferrous metals like iron and steel. If you’re really dedicated, you can even separate different types of titanium from each other if they’re stamped or otherwise marked.
